March 23, 2020 (Updated May 7)
UPDATE: Per Governor Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-70, as of May 7, 2020 construction work is permitted to resume. We are now servicing non-essential clients and other standard work orders.
Dear Royal Plumbing customers:
As an Essential Business under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, Royal Plumbing is permitted to service our customers' essential needs as stated in Governor Whitmer’s Executive Orders. We take pride in being able to provide necessary plumbing work to our community and have remained open during this difficult time.
A number of customers have asked for clarity on the precautions that we have taken, given the current coronavirus pandemic. In an effort to provide transparency and comfort, I am informing you of some the measures that we have taken to ensure continued service to our loyal customers and the well-being of our employees.
- We have secured, at great expense, personal protective equipment for our field employees. These includes N95 masks, face shields, extra nitrile gloves, disinfectant wipes, and hand sanitizer.
- On Friday, March 6, before the virus reached Michigan, I spoke with the Oakland County EMS Medical Director.
- On Wednesday, March 11, after the first Michigan case was confirmed, Royal Plumbing implemented our first set of special protocols to our employees.
- A week later, on, March 18, after again speaking with several top local physicians, we updated these protocols to match the ever-changing and chaotic situation.
- After those measures were in place, we took the extra step, and submitted these protocols for review to the Chief of Infectious Disease at a large local hospital. We take immense pride at being proactive and have been lauded by medical experts. While every situation in different, and the protocols are constantly being updated (which we will adopt as warranted), we are committed to serving our customers throughout this difficult time.
- Again, on March 31, after updating our protocols, we submitted these, along with procedures for servicing households with symptomatic customers, for physician review. The response was “our hospital should adopt these guidelines for outpatient clinics.” We believe that as field plumbers, our procedures must be stringent and we are proud to receive acclaim from local experts.
With much faith & prayers,
Noah Klein
Owner & Master Plumber
P.S. Our protocols were most recently updated on April 22nd.
